Inspired by the array of styles and colors of clothing that abound in my travel to distant lands, I explored ways to express unique ethnic identity through a universal garment …. The Robe.
I integrated iconic cultural symbols, language characters and local coins into an evolving series of hand-built ceramic and mixed media wall art. First came larger hand built, T-shaped ceramic robes, and smaller ceramic robes in shadow boxes then mixed media pieces on canvas. Each piece is one of a kind and ready to hang.
