Artist Statement
My art interweaves personal passions for gardening, travel and clothing. As an avid mover of earth in the garden, small wonder that the tactile feel of clay between my fingers first drew me into hand built, decorative ceramics. Always
open to new ideas, in recent years I’ve enjoyed exploring Mixed Media to expand my artistic reach.
I often imbue graphic symbolism from distant cultures into my art to lend a sense of place and identity. Found objects like old coins, beads and metals, along with natural elements like leaves, stones and fossils add a real world authenticity. From my signature ethnic robes, free standing vessels and ceramic tiles to my newer Mixed Media pieces, people often comment that they communicate a calming, spiritual feeling that quiets the soul.
Career Profile
I’m a Colorado native, who received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from CSU before launching an early career in graphic design. Then on to extended roles as the in- house Art Director for the Denver Public Library and Ideal Basic Industries along with design work for Opera Colorado and many other Denver companies. All this before scratching my fashion itch, founding and growing Rich Rags, an upscale resale women’s clothing store in Denver.
I then transitioned into fine art in 2001 and have shown year round in the Mix Co-op at the Niza Knoll Gallery in Denver’s vibrant Santa Fe Arts District since 2010. I have frequently exhibited my artwork at the popular juried Denver Art student’s League’s Summer Art Market.
A Practical Note
All my artwork is a one of a kind original. No two alike. My wall pieces come ready to hang in your home or office. No framing required.
